Explain your role at KORTX. What team are you on?

I’m the Head of Finance at KORTX, overseeing everything related to Accounting, Finance, and Legal.

When did you join KORTX?

June 2019.

What do you love about KORTX?

The best part of KORTX is the people. We have a fantastic team that is passionate about our work. Collaborating with an energetic group that shares a winning mindset is a lot of fun.

My dogs, Buster and Ruby.

What got you interested in finance & advertising?

In college, I took an economics class during my freshman year and fell in love with it. I initially considered going into teaching but shifted my focus to business after that class. I was torn between majoring in Finance or Accounting and ultimately chose Finance.

After completing my undergraduate degree, I returned to school for a Master’s in Accounting (from Oakland University), which helped me to broaden my skills.

Can you describe a recent financial project or initiative you’re particularly proud of at KORTX?

Last year, we went through our first SOC 2 audit, and I was really proud of how the team came together to prepare. We passed with flying colors and are now gearing up for another audit this fall.

What’s a typical day like for you?

The first thing I do in the morning is make a cup of coffee. Then it’s a few hours of getting the kids to school, getting ready for work, and walking the dogs. I try to make it into the office a few days a week, especially when I have a lot of meetings—it’s always nice to see coworkers in person. Once I’m home, I usually take charge of making dinner–we really love HelloFresh. The recipes are great, but your kitchen is a disaster when you’re all done. My oldest daughter is vegetarian, so we’ve been testing out a lot of recipes with Beyond Meat. We made some really good vegetarian chili and Hungarian meatball soup.

What are your favorite things to do outside of work?

I love hanging out with friends and family, golfing, and especially working in the yard.

What weird food combinations do you really enjoy?

I love putting ketchup on my scrambled eggs. My wife and kids think it’s absolutely disgusting. I assumed everyone did it, guess not.
