Motherhood is a journey that demands boundless love, patience, and dedication. At KORTX, we have the privilege of having some incredible working moms on our team who navigate the delicate balance between their careers and raising their children.

Working mothers, as a label, refers to women who are mothers and who work outside the home for income in addition to the work they perform at home in raising their children.

In celebration of Mother’s Day, we wanted to spotlight these remarkable women and share their insights on what it means to be a working mom.

Join us as we celebrate our working moms’ strength, resilience, and superpowers at KORTX. Through their experiences and perspectives, we hope to inspire and honor the dedication of all working moms this Mother’s Day and every day.

🌸 Meet Our Working Moms

Laurie McNamara, Human Resources Director

What do you enjoy about being a working mom?

I enjoy being an example to my kids and sharing my work experiences & stories with them. They can see that hard work takes commitment & sacrifice, but it pays off financially (especially when I say yes to those extra purchases!). Working full-time keeps my mind busy, and I tend not to sweat the small stuff as a mom.

How do you balance your family and career responsibilities?

My job at KORTX has a lot of flexibility – I wouldn’t be able to do it all without the flexibility of coming into a quiet office when the house is crazy and working from home a few days a week. I can leave an hour early to get to one of their sporting events and then make up the time after the kids get to bed. It’s awesome.

Stephanie Kosovich, Marketing Director

How do you balance your family and career responsibilities?

I’m grateful for an amazing husband, family, support system, and the flexibility KORTX provides. All these things allow me to balance my family and career responsibilities and still make time for my workouts and other things that make me a better mom, friend, wife, co-worker, etc.!

Kaitlyn Doctor, Account Manager

What do you enjoy about being a working mom?

I enjoy providing for my family but also having an outlet to pursue my own aspirations.

How do you balance your family and career responsibilities?

I find balance by knowing when it’s time to put my family first – like showing up to be a cheerleader at sporting events or important school meetings.

Jessica Ostrom, Director of Account Management

What do you enjoy about being a working mom?

I enjoy that my kids get to see me work hard to provide for them each day. Becoming a mom has actually had a positive impact on my career. I can easily balance several tasks at a time since it’s something I’ve had to master at home. Additionally, I’ve become more patient and understanding with others and have increased empathy with fellow parents in the workforce. Although I absolutely adore my kids, I do enjoy that I get to interact with adults and have adult conversations daily.

How do you balance your family and career responsibilities?

What’s balance? I run around like a chicken with my head cut off most days. But in all seriousness, I enjoy the chaos. There’s a level of satisfaction when you can get the kids out the door dressed & fed on time (most days), even if I look a bit disheveled at the end of it all. Working for a flexible, family-first company has also been beneficial. It’s comforting to know that if I need to take my kids to the doctor or if I need to keep them out of daycare for a couple days due to an illness, it isn’t a problem, and our teams are all understanding.

Megan Gordon, Senior Account Manager

What do you enjoy about being a working mom?

Being a working mom is incredibly challenging. However, showing my daughter the value of hard work and determination is important. I want to lead by example so she knows the sky is truly the limit for her and she can be anything she wants and do anything she sets her mind to.

How do you balance your family and career responsibilities?

I am constantly trying to make adjustments to find balance. My top priorities are being a mom and a wife – but my career is important. Time management and planning are key, but flexibility as schedules change, kids are sick, etc., is huge.
