Recently, our team had the exciting opportunity to host a group of enthusiastic students from Walsh College at our Detroit office. This special event, KORTX for a Day (KFAD), was not just another day at the office but a dynamic and interactive experience, designed to provide these students with a deep dive into the real world of digital advertising.
KORTX for a Day aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical industry experience, fostering professional growth and career development in digital advertising.
✨ It was crafted as a comprehensive educational and professional development experience to provide college students and recent alumni with insights into the digital advertising industry. The program combines interactive learning sessions, real-world applications, and networking opportunities with experienced advertising professionals.
On November 8, Walsh College students visited the KORTX office in Berkley for an immersive day in digital advertising. The experience was packed with insightful learning sessions, a competitive pitch contest, and ample networking opportunities.

The ability for students to develop meaningful connections with professionals already working in the industry is vital to their long-term career success, ultimately creating a support system that can offer guidance, advice, and even referrals. With the amazing insight shared by the team at KORTX, students walked away from this experience inspired, confident, and with a new set of mentors to help sharpen their skills as they progress through their academic and professional careers.”
These sessions, led by various KORTX team members and subject matter experts, aimed to present complex digital advertising concepts in an easily digestible format. This approach enabled students to gain a real-world perspective on the industry.
At the end of the day, students were presented with a specific use case and tasked with applying their learnings to develop and present sales pitches. The exercise, guided by Chief Revenue Officer, Chris Rowell, focused on creativity, teamwork, and persuasive communication. The students’ ability to craft compelling pitches in a short timeframe showcased their quick grasp of digital advertising principles.

I gained firsthand knowledge of KORTX’s multi-layered approaches, combining technology, analytics, and innovation, and this provided me with a unique perspective on how companies should navigate the digital transformation landscape.”
Key to the event’s success was the informal networking opportunities interspersed throughout the day during breaks and over a catered lunch.

“As a former college intern, I understood the value of connecting academic learning with real-world application. This experience inspired me to create a similar, impactful program for students at KORTX.
We realized an initiative that went beyond the conventional internship model to offer a unique, hands-on learning opportunity could help students gain real-world experience in a digital advertising environment with a shorter time commitment.”
Our team was keen on forging meaningful connections with local colleges and students, leading us to conceive the idea of a one-day immersive event. This program was tailored for students with a foundational understanding of advertising, aiming to provide a rapid yet thorough insight into the digital advertising world in just one day. It represented an innovative approach to combine hands-on learning with real-world exposure, condensing what might typically be spread over multiple weeks into a single, dynamic and enriching day.
“As I am at the end of my grad school journey, I was hoping that the event could help me to solidify the path I want to take. I really connected to the talk about marketing strategy and I believe I found the marketing sector for me. I am thankful for the opportunity that was extended to us Walsh students which has made me look forward to starting my new career.”
