Accounting Associate

Berkley, MI · Full-time · Partially Remote

Accounting Associate

This position is responsible for performing regular accounting tasks as well as special projects as assigned. Duties include accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll, 401k administration, reconciliation of accounts and maintaining journal entries. This role reports to the Head of Finance.

What We're Looking For


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related discipline
  • 2-3 years of general accounting experience
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices and the reporting of financial data
  • Experienced working in Excel and QuickBooks 
  • Proficient in managing payroll and 401k transactions
  • Highly organized and detail oriented individual 
  • Comfortable building out new processes and procedures to streamline the finance department
  • Strong customer service skills both internally and externally
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality 
  • Comfortable working independently, manages time effectively, and the ability to be self-directed

What You'll Be Responsible For


  • Enter journal entries and resolve billing/payment discrepancies
  • Post checks and ACH payments received. Also record returned payments
  • Gathers all billing info from internal teams to compile and distributes invoices for KORTX clients
  • Create invoices and update customer accounts as needed
  • Investigate and resolve customer underpayments/disputes
  • Code and enter all vendor invoices, expenses and credit card transactions into accounting software
  • Complete bi-weekly payroll in Paycom in collaboration with HR
  • Complete and maintain all 401k contributions
  • Book journal entries and assist in maintaining general ledger accounts and associated activities related to monthly financial close
  • Assist Head of Finance in financial statement preparation
  • Participates in various projects on an ad hoc basis
  • Utilize programs such as QuickBooks and Excel to complete tasks
